Barry D. Trebach, one of the Founding Partners of the Firm, was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1954. He attended Vassar College (AB, 1976) and made Washington, DC his home after he graduated from the Antioch School of Law (JD, 1981). Immediately after graduation, Mr. Trebach became the judicial law clerk for the Honorable Frederick H. Weisberg of the District of Columbia Superior Court. He is admitted to the District of Columbia (1981) and Maryland (1983) bars and is a member of the United States District Courts of the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Currently, Mr. Trebach is the lead defense counsel on national products liability cases for a dialysis service provider and is panel counsel for the members of the Grocery Manufacturer Association. Since 1981, he has represented doctors and hospitals in medical malpractice cases in Washington, DC and throughout the state of Maryland and has litigated and tried cases involving brain injuries, death, paralysis, birth injuries and many more. Mr. Trebach has defended national food producers and retailers in food borne illness cases and has worked with law enforcement (including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and United States Attorney’s Office), media relations firms, epidemiologists, restaurant owners and others to investigate and litigate food related fraud cases across the country.
Mr. Trebach has appeared in federal and state courts throughout the country and has an active litigation and trial practice in the areas of professional malpractice, product liability, food and beverage liability, and fraud investigations. He has been a mediator and an arbitrator since 1986 for the DC Superior Court, the DC Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia and the Maryland Alternative Dispute Resolution Health Claims Board.
Mr. Trebach has lectured to lawyers, doctors, members of the food industry and insurance companies on defending food borne illness cases, defending medical malpractice cases and various litigation techniques. He has lectured at the University Medical and Dental School of New Jersey, the American Psychoanalytical Association, The Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, the Virginia Defense Lawyers Association, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, and the Grocery Manufacturer Association’s Annual Litigation Conference.
