David Numrych is Of Counsel in the Firm's Washington, D.C. office. He practices in the areas of insurance coverage, product liability, premises liability, general negligence, medical malpractice, contract disputes,construction defects, and worker's compensation law, representing major national corporations and insurance carriers.
He has also defended cases involving foreign diplomats under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act and has successfully argued at the federal appellate level in such cases. James Slater v. Gloria Biehl, 793 A.2d 1 268 (D.C. 2002). He has argued cases before the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
Mr. Numrych successfully defended complex insurance coverage declaratory judgment actions in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia that resulted in published opinions, and trial verdicts in favor of his clients. State Farm et al. v. Enterprise Leasing Company et al., The Washington Daily Law Reporter, Vol. 127, No. 78, p. 721 (1999), Richard Lipsky v. Wausau Insurance et al., (2003, Arlington Virginia Chancery Court, No. 00371).
Other complex product liability cases he handled in the Federal District Courts also resulted in published opinions. National Coach Works et al. v. Detroit Diesel Corporation et al.,128 F. Supp. 2nd 821 (D.Ct. Md. 2001). He served as trial counsel in several cases in the past few years, which resulted defense verdicts in favor of his clients at trial. He has taught as a Faculty Member and Instructor for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy at New York Law School and Georgetown Law School.
Mr. Numrych has completed intensive professional training in the Teaching of Trial Advocacy, and served as a Presiding Judge and scorer for the Association of Trial Lawyers Of America (ATLA) regional student trial competitions in Washington D.C.
After graduation from law school, he served six years in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps. During his enlistment, he served as a medical-legal advisor to George Air Force Base Hospital in California, and Chief Prosecutor for the United States Air Force in Washington, DC. He was appointed a Special Assistant United States Attorney, and was certified both as a prosecutor and as defense counsel in numerous felony criminal jury trials. He was twice awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, and awarded a Meritorious Service Medal.
Mr. Numrych received his B.A. from University of Illinois-Urbana in 1987 and was awarded a J.D. by the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1990.
