Ms. Gustafson is an Associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. She has experience litigating matters in the areas of general liability, product liability, insurance defense, and contracts.
Ms. Gustafson clerked for the Honorable Dale R. Cathell of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals from 1994 – 1996, and for the Honorable Robert L. Karwacki of the Maryland Court of Appeals from 1996 – 1997. She also served as a legal intern to the Honorable Randall R. Rader of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit from 1992 – 1993.
Ms. Gustafson is a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International, having co-founded the Jefferson Chapter during her undergraduate years at the University of Virginia, and the Mason Chapter, during her law school years at George Mason University School of Law. She also served as the Justice of the Mason Chapter. She was also actively involved in the Young Lawyers' Section of the Maryland State Bar Association, having served as a Co-Chair of the Section's Public Service Committee, and Chair of its Special Projects Committee. She also served as the Secretary of the Young Lawyers' Section for two years, the Chair-Elect, and as the Chair of the Section for the 2003-2004 year. Ms. Gustafson was also involved in the Young Lawyers’ Division of the American Bar Association between 1994 and 2006, serving as the Vice-Chair of the Children and the Law Committee for the 2002-2003 year.
Ms. Gustafson is fluent in Italian.
Ms. Gustafson has co-authored the “Law Office Economics, Management, and Fees” section of The Practice Manual for the Maryland Lawyer, 3rd Edition (2002); "Tort Liability in Construction Contracting/Edition II," Construction Briefings, 01-8 (August 2001), and "Environmental Risks at the Job Site/Edition II," Construction Briefings, 03-4 (April 2003). She also authored “Litigation 101: Drafting a Complaint” (2005) for use by the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers’ Division.
